I have this Pneumatic Power Hammer that was made by a kid up in Seattle who used it for years. It has been sitting for a while and Needs alot of love to get it up to snuff and working condition again. It will be at Larrys shop for the time being till I can figure out what to do about it or sell it. I would be tickled to death to just recover what I put into it.

Ok this is what I saw when I had it apart, what i am going to describe I didnt do the maker did putting it together. The Main piston had a large gouge in it from a vice it was held in apparrently when the head was welded onto it instead of screwed on it. I would suggest replacing that, the gouge in the rod will continually wear out the seals and rip them up as I found when I took it apart. Other than that as far as I know there is nothing else wrong with it. It just needs a strong continuous Air Source. The Hammer is at Larrys for anyone going to the Hammer-in to look at. I am just trying to get my initial 1,500.00 back out of it though I put close to 2k into it as it sits now.

I built 2 Kinyon style air hammers about 10 yrs ago...65/100lb, and as far as I know, both are still in operation, one here in the NW. 2 g's is a reasonable price for a good running hammer. My concern, and the reason for me to buy my first self contained hammer was that having a spray booth and running the hammer at the same time was using too much air for my system. So, the dilemma was to buy another air compressor+plumbing, or step up to a self contained hammer. Business was on the up swing, so I chose to go with the self contained.
In hindsight, the Kinyon hammers work exceedingly well for the $, and there are a number of hammers on the market today that are a direct result of the design generosity given by Ron Kinyon. He literally made the non self contained hammer market available to smiths who want to make their own hammers. IMHO, he deserves saint hood in the blacksmithing world. That, and he is a really nice guy.
Good fortune in selling your hammer. Sounds like a few adjustments and some one will have a good, usable hammer.
