For you guys in the Northern Washington Blacksmith's Association: You should all get on Murphy Auction's email list. There is a GREAT auction coming up in Kent that you won't want to miss. murphyauction.com/Auction/Catalog/142. This is the site for the specific auction. I pretty much retired from being an auctioneer this year, but still try to keep up on what's going on.... Murphy does LOTS of good auctions in your area... They are a good straight up auction firm. Make SURE and find out what the Buyer's Premium is BEFORE you bid.... Good Luck. Eric Sprado. Sprado Realty and Auction. Eugene, Oregon

REally? looks like a bunch of old worn out junk to me.... I didnt see a single thing that got my mouth watering... That 100 ton ironworker is a nice machine but even that doenst entice me much..

I know your just trying to help Eric and I dont mean to bust your chops, I do thank you for pointing it out.... Im sure there is stuff there that would look good to someone... Maybe its because I am feeling so broke that I just dont want to think there are any good deals out there to be had...

Murphy is a great auction house... so good I just about wont bother going to a Murphy auction.. There are almost always people willing to pay retail plus 10% for a clapped out old tool...

I use to be (arguably still am I guess) a professional tool buyer... When I worked at Pacific Industrial part of my job was to attend just about every industrial auction.... I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars buying stuff..... Almost never could buy anything at a Murphy auction... Matter of fact I told my wife If I kick off unexpectedly, lock the door to my shop and call Tim Murphy... 😉

Whatever you are, be a good one.

Sorry Guys: At one of their sales down here I bought a couple of nice anvils. I guess the number of folks up in your area must make it tough to buy things. Picked up a LG 50 for 25 bucks(no other blacksmiths there) about 10 years ago at one.. Anyway-sorry to insult you folks. I'll refrain from mentioning Murphy's sales again!!!!!!

Hey! You did no such thing, quit your apologies.... Id rather have you post the auction and not find anything that excites me.... Rather than you not and then find out later there was something there I would have really liked to have....

I still go to the occasional Murphy auction if there is a specific thing that I am prepared to pay real money for... I just go knowing full well that the likelihood of a deal is slim to none

Whatever you are, be a good one.

I gotta agree with Larry on both points-

first, thanks for posting this, auctions up here are rare.
Back east, there are 2 or 3 a month in most areas, with lots of american industry being dismantled and sold off for pennies on the dollar.

second- it does look like mostly pretty cheap stuff that was rode hard and put away wet.
I wouldnt buy a NEW Dewalt grinder, much less one that has been beat on for a year or two by shop monkeys.

The ironworker is about the only real tool in the whole shop- and Mubea is good stuff, well built enough to survive the abuse a shop like this would give it.
The cold saw would be worth owning, too. Bewo is well made.

But my experience is like Larry's- prices will be close to, if not above, new retail.

For a grand, that cold saw would be a deal.
Maybe ten grand for the ironworker.

But most likely, they will go for double or triple that.
