Gene, I don't know if you've ever seen a copy but Harriet White Fisher (the widow of Mark Fisher of Fisher and Norris Anvils) self published a book called " A Woman's World Tour In A Motor in 1911. She took a Locomobile auto and literally made a trip around the world with it (including crossing the USA from west to east. I found it a really fun read and a period look into a different time. (but then I'm a little strange sometimes) It might make a good companion read to the documentary you are describing. I was fortunate enough to be given a copy but I understand that copies do show up on ebay or elswhere occasionally.
