A greed of anvils........What does it matter? People collect everything under the sun, esp $, a few people could buy ALL the anvils if they wished......All the gold ever mined would fit in a cube 82' on one side. It would be interesting to know volume of the total volume of our coveted anvils. The point here is ??? The anvil collectors have them in safe keeping for future generations. New anvils are just as good or better.........

How about "a silly pile of anvils".

Some years ago when visiting a dealer of old tools, a gentleman came up to the dealer and told us about his redecorating his living room in blacksmith equipment. He had anvils for end tables on each side of the sofa, and various portable forges scattered about with hammers and tools that he could not identify randomly scattered on those forges.

I suggested that he get a bellows for a coffee table (since I have seen that in antique stores several times and was feeling a bit annoyed with the gentleman) keeping a straight face. The tool dealer was a bit less than happy with my jest, but he relaxed when his customer's eyes lit up and was extremely enthusiastic about the prospect of finding a coffee table to add to his decor.

The gentleman must have been unmarried as I can not imagine a wife putting up with a living room decorated that way.
