Hello,

Brand new member here, and in the process of building a brake drum forge. I have an initial question related to this project... I am thinking of using a Dayton blower as my air supply, but have read that a shaded pole blower is not recommended....can someone confirm or deny this and tell me why? The model I'm looking at is Model # 2C647, and the specs are "Blower, 134 cfm, 115V, 0.74A, 1500 rpm". Can someone tell me if this is suitable? I've read that a hairdryer works, but I would think that they will burn out fairly quickly?

Any help would be appreciated, and I look forward to learning from you guys, and participating in these forums.

Centaur forge sells Dyson blowers so I a sum they will work very well.

What ever you do just don't use a shop vac it burns through to much coal.

Go to local appliance store and talk to their installer. I get nice GenAir blowers from local outfit that basically just scraps their "take-outs". They are great blowers.
