But, in answer to your question, the blade and steel look very good. What are the dimensions?
What is the function of the knife?
Regarding the twist pattern (a beautiful classic, IMO) the more you can forge down the corners after twisting, the less cold shuts you'll have while forging the blade.
Many folks turn the bar into an octagon before twisting to make this easier. I've even tried starting with round stock, and you still can get edges/"corners" to forge down.
