I made a scroll jig to make trivets for my wife’s flower pots. Attached are photos and a link to a YouTube video that goes into the specifics of designing and making the jig.

As the video shows the jig was made using a series 90 degree arcs with a constant radius. 

Visually it looks fine. Technically the radius should be constantly increasing. 

I  found a graphing app that I used to generate spirals using polar coordinates. By taking the angle to higher powers you can produce a more traditional scroll.

I did a screen shot of the graph and edited it in Photoshop. I printed it on 8 1/2 X 11 paper. It can be used as a template.

I found another formula online. It is a logarithmic spiral based on the natural log “e”  (2.718)
