Geeze....
I was taking advantage of what scarce good weather we've been having, my daughter going to a movie with Grandma, and my 9 mo. old boy asleep in his crib. I was hammering out a blade for maybe an hour when I noticed an old maroon mini-van slowing down to see what I was doing. I smiled, waved and thought nothing of it.
The second time I saw the same mini-van a few minutes later I looked for a second and still didn't pay much attention.
The 3rd time I looked a lot closer and saw an older scowling face wearing dark glasses looking back at me...couldn't tell if it was a male or female, but for whatever reason, that person sure as heck didn't seem to approve of me doing my thing in my own yard.
The 4th time, I stopped hammering and watched intently as the same old scowling face flashed a look of disgust in my direction. I smirked and threw my arms up in the air thinking "If you're so friggin interested, just ask me!"
The 5th time I was getting irritated and ignored the van
The 6th time I gathered myself, put on a friendly face and walked through the gate out towards the street, prepared to give directions because this person was most likely lost.
When they saw me coming, they hit the gas and tore down the street at warp 9.
So what do you all think?
My first guess is that it's some busybody from the neighborhood with absolutely NOTHING better to do than to drive around looking for things to complain about and report to the authorities.
Another thought is that this person was seeing my anvil and small pile of remenants as something to sell at the scrap yard to go towards their next bag-o-meth.
Their brain was blasted from being awake too long, and they thought I didn't notice them until they sped off?
Anyways, this was most likely nothing, but is still unnerving and was wondering if anything like this has happened to any of you, and what happened as a result.
I suppose pad-locking the gate and sticking 10 or 15 spent shotgun shells in the chain link fence might be a suitable deterrent for tonight, but I'm still a little worried because that won't stop the neighborhood association.

Hey all
I didn't think of taking down the plates, but as of yet, no activity in my yard.
I'm now getting the feeling that this person wasn't a tweaker, and am leaning heavily towards angry uptight old lady....Intrusive, irritating and terrified of amicable communication....
Any guy who lights a fire and bangs on things in his backyard must be doing something satanic, is definitely on drugs and is probably active in the local terrorist cell.....Right?
I'm thinking that in the near future I might have some angry old ladies from the neighborhood association knocking on my door at some painfully early hour of the morning calling me a public nuisance or in violation of some law they make up on the spot.

I wasn't wearing leather, just a dirty green welding cap, safety glasses and an extremely faded, holey, worn out black Guinness shirt written in Gaelic....I suppose the text seen at a distance could appear similar Arabic to an extremely ignorant/paranoid person.
If anyone like that comes knocking, I'll answer the door with a baby boy, invite them in for tea, and break out the blacksmithing books.
My boy will kill them with cuteness, and I completely disarm them with exceedingly proper and old fashioned protocol learned from a book of 18th and 19th century etiquette 🙂

Yes, I know it is a funny place to have a door.
Not only that; why are you wearing a dressing gown?
