Hey guys,
This is my first post here, happy to join a forum. We need a supplier with expert knowledge about the oil and gas industry who could meet our specific forged component requirements so that we could improve component manufacturability of our industry. I researched some forging manufacturers who supply forging for the oil & gas industry and found one supplier. I have heard that before choosing a forging supplier it is necessary to check whether the company has quality certifications. Anyone, please mention the certifications that a forging supplier should have?

I am going to answer your question as an engineer rather than a blacksmith. Typically engineering codes will drive design requirements for the Oil and Gas Industry and will probably involve ASME, ISO, and other codes and requirements. If you do not have sufficient experience to determine what codes are required by law or otherwise required for function and operation a contract engineering firm could be hired. Since liabilities could be involved a licensed P.E. (Professional Engineer) who can sign for Oil and Gas designs would be the first step in selecting the engineer.

The engineering drawings or contract documents typically specify quality and control standards. You may want to start with an ISO 9000 since it is non-specific to Oil and Gas.
