A gentleman from Grants Pass contacted me. He was hoping someone in our Association might be available to assist him with some riveting. He is in the process restoring a 1917 tractor to full working condition.

I remembered Lynn was down that way, but couldn't remember off the top of my... um... er... that thing on my shoulders... who else was down that way.

If you are interested, you can either PM me for his phone number, or I can forward your contact information to him.

Here are some details he sent:

I need to replace all the top angle iron and bottom flat strap. The center M shaped support and everything else will be saved.
I have a 1930s Thor 53 pneumatic rivet gun and dies for 7/8" and 5/8" head rivets. What I need is a tutor/mentor for a day that can assist me with the bucking/supporting of the rivet head on the backside while the stub end gets mashed.I want to do as much hands on work as possible.
A shop with a large compressor, furnace, and anvil would be best but I have a torch for heating and small compressor that should power the gun for about 8-10 seconds. I don't have the correct bucking/support tools other than some rail road rails that could be modified for rivet head support.
My plan was to disassemble everything and partially reassembling it with concealable welds to get the bulk of it lined up and straight and  then rivet the 2 halves together.   There are 2 complete units as pictured to be restored.
Anyone down this way??
