How do I go about setting chronology preferences? Specifically, how do I select

1) to have the posts in a thread in chronological order from oldest to newest instead of upside down? (PS, the post numbers in some threads, but not all, run into tens of thousands for some reason instead of going sequentially...)

and how do I select

2) to have the various threads in a subsection in reverse chronological order from newest to oldest (instead of the random order they currently appear?)

Oh... and how do I change my password to something I can remember instead of having to dig through old e-mail to copy & paste my current password?

No matter where you go... there you are.

Changing Password:  Login to site, go to Forum. The first set of buttons in the Forum section of the Forum Home page, aligned to the right are:  "Members" "Subscribe" "inbox" "Profile" "Logout"

Go to PROFILE. There you choose the first tab "Profile" and the last menu choice on the left, Account Settings (other choices are: Overview, Edit Profile, Edit Identities, Edit Avatar, Edit Signature, Account Settings).  In Account settings you can change your password.

Unfortunately at this time there is no way for individuals to re-sort the Topics and threads order from oldest first to newest first and the reverse, that is set in the administrative section.

The forums themselves are in a set order, ordered by main topics [NWBA Members Only, Announcements and Our Community, Blacksmithing, Bladesmithing etc]. Then under each of those, also in set order, not by time are the SubForums [for instance, under Blacksmithing Forum the sub forums are The Forge Fire, The Tools of the Trade, "Traditional" Blacksmithing etc.].  The forums are all in SET ORDER.

Under each forum are the Topics which are listed in order of the Newest Updated Topic first. And each thread under each topic is also in Newest Updated Thread first.

The list on the right hand side of the forum page are links to the latest posts, the first part of the link takes you to the Topic, it is the second part of the link that takes you directly to the post. I am working on redesigning this so there is only one link and make it more obvious how to use it.

I will look into ways that individuals can sort the threads and topics, but I am not sure when that might happen.

There are way too many forums and subforums, but they are the same structure as it was on the old site which so many of you seem to miss.

I am sorry this does not resolve everything that you wanted, but these are the answers as it is right now. As I said, I will look into the possibility of you being able to sort the threads yourself.

A definitive answer regarding individuals sorting the threads and topics in the order of their liking: This is not currently possible with simple:press as it is, and no plugin is available... however, the tech guy writing the software told me that they are working on having that in the next generation of simple:press.  That should be coming in the not too distant future. Until then, I hope you can get use to it. I am thinking about paring down the forums, putting some older forums no longer relevant into a forum of old stuff. One will be able to go there if they want to see the history, but then those forums won't be cluttering up the live activity. I appreciate everyone's comments, complaints and suggestions because they help me to develop things in the way you wish to see them... although not everyone agrees about it Wink
