HI all,

I am a new member from Oregon.  I have been wanting to try my hand at blacksmithing for awhile now.  I love to learn new crafts and this one has so much potential.  My wife and I own a Wedding Venue as a side business.  We are a small barn venue so I can see items from this craft fitting right in with our Rustic Theme, as well as allowing me to make repairs around the place.  The Farm is 114 years old and most of the original structures are still standing.

Towards that end my Wife got me an Anvil for Christmas, its vintage, heavy and well used, but not abused from what I can tell.

With all the classes seemingly on hold around the Portland Oregon area, I am doing what I can to learn on my own.

I look forward to learning from this group.

Suggestions are always welcome.

Welcome, to the group, pghahn.  If you haven't already, I'll suggest checking out the Digital Demonstrations that the group is doing as a replacement to the live events.

Keep hitting the hot steel and have fun.  Look forward to seeing you in person when live events and larger gatherings become safe and practical again.

Stay safe.

as always

peace and love

Thanks Billy,

I found the link and have subscribed.  I have already watched one!

I also found your library and there are certainly some go books in there.

As I mentioned I am in the equipment collecting phase, is there a forum thread for beginners looking for advice on equipment?  I was thinking of starting with a gas forge for simplicity, but it turns our there are about as many gas forges out there as there are people with opinions about them.  So to say the least its a bit overwhelming.

Thanks again

Phil
