Hey I'm Ryan. I've been interested in Smithing for some time now. I have just recently built a propane forge. Got it fired up and started banging away. I started out with a Rail Road spike Tomahawk, and a knife outta some steel I had left over from the forge. They turned out fairly nice. I learned a few do's and don'ts. I've been browsing through some of the forums, and had a chance to learn a few things. I'm looking forward to gaining more knowledge. And honing in on my skills. I'm hoping I can get some good insight from everyone. And if there's anyone in the Lynnwood-Everett area. That I might be able to meet up with and get some pointers in the craft. That would be awesome. Take care for now hope to get to know more of you real soon.
Peace,
~Ryan

Nice clean job on the forge. Like the looks of the knife and hawk forgings, too. You will fit right in here
Again, Welcome!

I was living in Edmonds when I met my first blacksmith (in my adult life) at the Edmonds Craft Festival. Horas Nelson was an old (90's) lumbercamp blacksmith. Great old guy, had a 1923 Stanley Steam car and a steam boat named the Meadowdale Queen. Got me started down the road playing at his shop. That was about 1971. Wow, could that really have been 40 years ago?
