The NWBA is also excited to host the Gallery for the Western States Conference 2011. We hope that you have brought some artwork to share with us and are happy to exhibit it in the Conference Gallery located in Vallian’s Ski Shop in the heart of Government Camp.

This gallery will also operate as a retail store for Conference goods and sales of art pieces. If you are bringing a piece that you would like to include in the gallery, here are the details we will need from you.

1. Is your piece for sale? If it is please have a price in mind and be aware that the Gallery will be taking a 20% commission to be donated to the Arts Cabins Project. If you do not want your piece to be for sale, that is perfectly fine, just list it as NFS (Not For Sale). If you would like more information about the Arts Cabins project just ask someone for a flier or go to their website www.artscabins.org to learn all about it.

2. Is your piece fragile or small or needing to be displayed in a specific way? Just let us know when you check it in. We have lots of glass cases for delicate items, jewelry and knives. And we will have folks on hand to help hang your art so that you can enjoy the rest of the conference. **If you are a bladesmith and are hoping to display some of your work, there are lots of locked glass display cases. We also ask that if you can, please volunteer to spend some time in the gallery to help us with the handling and proper display of blades, as well as educating the public about the work that goes into making knives.**

3. Would you like to volunteer to help in the Gallery? If so we’d love to have you. Weather you’re a knife maker, a jeweler, a farrier or artist blacksmith we’re happy for all volunteers who are willing to step forward. There will be a sign up sheet in the gallery with time slots available. This may be a good opportunity for you to help educate the public about blacksmithing and specifically about your own personal work.

4. Do you have questions about the gallery, your artwork if it sells, the hours of the gallery? No problem!

A. The Gallery will be open for the same hours as all the conference events, thus giving folks the most time to see all the cool stuff you’ll have on display. The only time during the conference the gallery will close is Saturday afternoon at 5:30 for the Banquet and Auction.

B. If your art work sells you will be sent a check two weeks after the conference is over and the paperwork is done. There will be a spot on your sign in sheet for you to give us your contact information. If you cannot wait to be paid for your piece then we ask that you list it as Not For Sale. It’s going to be quite a task to record all the sales from this event. But don’t worry, we’ll pay you!

C. All artwork will need to be picked up between Noon and 4pm on Sunday. If you haven’t picked up your piece by 4pm the NWBA is not responsible for what happens to it. Sorry, but we can’t afford to ship stuff to folks, you understand how it goes.

D. If you aren’t staying the full time of the conference and need to take your piece when you leave, no problem, just be sure to check it out with one of the Gallery Staff. If you need to arange for someone else than yourself to take your artwork home please also make a note of it on your sign in sheet.

5. There will be detailed sign in sheets in the gallery to gather all your information and we will provide tags for your art. If you would like to leave business cards for folks there will also be a business card display in the gallery.

THANKS so much for coming to 2011 Western States Conference and for sharing your art with us!
