Hello,

My files rust very easily in my outdoor forge.  Does anyone have any recommendations for storing them so they won't do that?  I thought about wrapping them up in oily rags, but that just seems like a bad idea.

As a beginning Blacksmith, I make scale.

Wood box works better to keep the humidity at bay than does other material. Simple to make, or you might luck out & find a good proportioned one at the thrift store or garage sale. Over the seasons, I find I need to replace them as the wood warps & the boxes self-destruct.

I like to throw in one or two of those "do not eat" moisture absorbers. I get them free at work, but I hear they are also pretty cheap online.

No matter where you go... there you are.
