Alright who wants to be the lucky new owner of this fantastic 450lb anvil? Ive had it for 5 years, it is a earlier one from Russel.. It measures 50-52RC with my digital hardness tester.. has only very minor dinks..... I currently have two of these, its not that I am giving up on Nimba... Just would rather have the dough than a pair of them..
Good guy deal of $1400
Whatever you are, be a good one.

I figured 3 bucks a pound was $1350... And since I have seen crappy clapped out anvils in the 350-500 pound range sell for at least $3/lb this would be a no brainer for someone... Its a beautiful anvil...

Thanks Larry,
I was almost certain that this baby had been bought when I responded to this post ... usually if there is more than 2 posts, it's GONE ... at least that has been my experience here on this website so far. =)
It will make a great addition to our shop here, as you can see ... it's just a little bit bigger than previous one! =)
Thanks again Larry and thanks for the time you took out of your day to give us a short tour of your facility! Lots of cool things there that got the brain to thinkin!

Thanks! I actually got to use it yesterday even!
On a side note:
I found a nice piece of rubber for it to sit on to help with the "RRRRRRR-IIIIIII-NNN-GGG" it had ... then, put a nice stout used speaker magnet on the under side of the back part and ... no more ring! =) Had a lighter magnet on it earlier but it did not quiet the ring nearly as much as this stronger one did. :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

ringiing anvils are a pain, with chains, cable and magnets managed to keep them mostly quiet. have 109# peter wright, noisy but tolerable with chain and magnets. One trick, really shut it down, a frige magnet on the tip of the horn, shut that turkey down almost dead quiet, only trouble, when using the horn the magnet kept faling off.
Keep your ear plugs in, know some almost deaf blacksmiths.

Use a good adhesive silicone chalk under it (not construction adhesive like Liquid Nails). Put it on a good heavy 3 legged stand. It will quiet it right down and the stand adds to the overall weight effect. With the 3 legged stand you can also get up closer to the anvil. Make sure that the stand raises the anvil up so that you can stand up straight and reduce back pain.

I never really was bothered by the ring... I had it on a bed of lead and it was not bad... Not that it didnt ring some, just that It didnt bother me enough to do anything further...
