This is my heavy-duty forge for making Damascus.
It is 18.5" tall, 14" in diameter and the openings on each end are 3.5 x 3.5.
I just did a full rebuild with all new Kaowool and three coats of ITC 100. It also has a new OCP 112 CFM heavy duty blower.
The entire forge sits down on the bottom pan with a fire gasket. The bottom is filled to the bottom of the burner with kitty litter. When the flux gets a good start you just lift off the entire forge, dump the bottom pan, refill with Kitty Litter and go back to work.
The stand goes with, just a little POS on wheels so I can roll it outside to use it.
$400.
You can see it work here in Tenino, WA or I can meet you in Olympia, WA.
I am building a new ribbon forge to replace the three I have no [The other two are also for sale here].
Please respond here in the thread.

Ever consider having another exit/entrance hole on the other side for longer stock also so that it can be used for standard forging as well as forge welding?

Um, why would it need a third hole to be able to do "standard forging"? Seems to me like stock would pass through the two holes in it just fine..

Whatever you are, be a good one.

ok im blind at 6 am...didnt realize that was a second hole in the rear. lol thanks...I am thinking about it just so I can be lazy and not have to build one. Thought it was a one hole forge, also like the blower since that if I remember correctly helps conserve gas as well.

Look like a good one to me Paul. I usually make my own but I'd sure pay $400 bucks for that. You'd be hard pressed to build it for that.....Eric S..
Larry- I seem to remember jokes from my youth about the advantages of a third hole.....

My joke was "it's been so long since Ive had any on the side that I didn't even know they'd moved it"

Would that be the prostitute who had her appendix removed and they sewed up the wrong hole?.............................She started making money on the side!

Thanks, Sam, but I can't take the credit- this one was built by Bill Cottrell. He does great work. We just started my new ribbon burner forge today. Will post some pics when we get it fired up.

Not to rain on any ones parade: I built a vertical forge, coated the 3" kaowool with ITC 100 and used 2600 deg bricks in the bottom with a 1"pour of Mizzou over the bricks. Figured the bottom was expendable at some point. What I did not count on was the fact that the flux drips down the sides of the forge when removing the steel and eats the Kaowool despite the ITC coating. That forge literally self destructed within a dozen uses. It was the worst forge for welding that I ever built. I trashed it and went back to a half pipe and a hard brick floor.

Hopefully other have had better success.

This one is SOLD, paid and delivered.

Never had any problems with this one, Kaowool or the floor. Maybe has something to do with the diameter of the forge body, this one is 17". Always had room to put the fluxed steel in far enough away from the walls that it just wasn't a problem.
