I picked up my new anvil today! She is a beauty, had to get an engine hoist to place her on the stand i built. Man-o-man Steve Fontanini does an amazing job on his anvils. She rang like a bell, almost to the point of being deafening. I used a layer of silicone underneath the anvil, and was amazed how much the ring dissipated. The stand is a piece of laser cut one inch plate, with 3/8 wall square tube. I am excited to start makig new hardy tools. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Sam and Larry. I got to pound some metal today, man what a difference! It seems so much easier to move metal. Got a work out making a hot cut for the hardy hole. Started with 1 3/4 round 4140, tapered, and sledged it and used my press to fuller out the blade. I'll post a pic when its done. The hardy hole seems massive at 1 1/4.

Good Morning,

Soon you will learn that you can make a shim from a crop of angle bar. Makes it possible to use some of your previous tooling in the big Hardy Hole. Sometimes you just want to make new tooling, sometimes you want an easy answer.

Good looking anvil! Guess I need to talk to them about that big hardy hole. Convinced many to use 1" for all size. Only size shank I make. I'd have to do some grinding on the point of that "church window". Often when upsetting I like to drive the bar into the "V" where the upsetting block meets the body.

You call that an anvil, I have tables in my shop with less free space. She is nice though

You should forge some airplanes to keep on it, make it look even more like an aircraft carrier.

Yeah, it is ridiculously large! Thats the second aircraft carrier comment.;) Sure is nice to forge on though. The 1 1/4 hardy is big. I made a hot cut and it looks like a spartan head dress! Good idea about the angle iron, i'll have to try that. I do enjoy making new tools for it though.

Good Morning,

I also have a 500 lbs. landing strip, a Blackjack Ketchum. People can say what they want, It will outlive me. It sure is nice to have the effort returned when you need to make some atoms change their ways.

It probably would be awkward to ask the fleet to vacate the runway, might need to start a war. I know, just wipe them overboard, but don't kick them when they are down:sleep:

That really is a thing of pure beauty. Yet another dose of tool envy for me.
