I got a couple ideas, but I am looking for help and suggestions on making a tool for forging the fluke part of an anchor, with the raised central rib. Also, it needs to be able to fit on my little hammer dies, which are 1.5" by 3".

How big is the anchor? How big do you want the fluke? What size material.

Not very, I'm starting with 1 1/4 round and drawing it down, My preform is basically like a leaf blank, Tapering from 1 1/4" to 3/4" then the abrupt shoulder transition to " which is tapered to 1/2" and is 1 1/2" long. I'd like the fluke to be atleast 1/4" thick and proportionate to the anchor. which overall is about 18" tall.

Most anchors I have seen have the raised rib only on one side so I would say a simple bottom die will do the job for you. A simple groove the depth and width of the raised rib forged or ground into a piece of plate. All sharp corners generously radiused.

I did just that today John, worked a treat!!!!! I forged in a piece of 5/8" round, then relieved the corners on one side, forged my leaf blank preform then into the bottom tool under the hammer and it did it perfectly!

2 new techniques i've tried that worked flawlessly in 2 days, I'd say it was a weekend well spent 😀 I haven't learned this much in months and months!
