Hey Guys,
Our locality was facing a problem for many days due to a power generation firm, planning to start its warehouse near our home to store its raw materials and other resources. People are against this as they are bothered by the environmental issues resulting from the forgings used for power generation. But I think the firm had already done all the legal formalities for this. I dont understand, Is there will be any environmental issues by building the warehouse here?. Please share your thoughts about this.

Hi Cindy, while there are certainly arguments for / against various ways power gets generated, the machinery and forgings themselves being stored in a warehouse doesn't strike me as an environmental concern - just so long as they're not covered in lead paint I guess? Is the proposed project a hydroelectric plant? Nuclear plant?

I'd have concerns about storage for nuclear plants, though fewer concerns about storing mechanical forgings and castings which work together to make the plant operate and more concerns about the storage of nuclear waste itself being unstable by nature.

I'm the Executive Director of a 100 year old hydroelectric plant that was decommissioned almost 15 years ago due to the environmental impact it had on the region (The Bull Run Powerhouse / Powerhouse Center on the Bull Run on Facebook)  Our site is a historic landmark now, but all the old turbines, machines, and one of the transformers are still on site and haven't caused any problems by not running/generating power. If anything, they've become a playground for the local salamanders and newts.

Hope some of what I written helps answer some of your question,

E. Clair Guy
