I am ignorant to smithing but a caring father who wants to foster his child's interest in a valuable skill that he could do for fun/hobby or more seriously once skilled. Kenny is eager to learn and we are seeking advice to purchase tools for a not-so-modern method of blacksmithing. If you have tools for sale and/or a willingness to teach, please contact us to discuss terms/costs and schedule. I think we need anvil, forge, hammers, tongs, safety devices, etc. but am seeking some friendly advice on setting up a fixed location vs a more portable set of equipment. Am preparing an order from a NC Shop for some items. Not sure where to start for entry level beginner, but he wants to make things like tips for his target arrows, tent stakes, knives, hatchet, and craft-souvenier arrowheads and anything he has the opportunity to make/use in Scouting. Kenny is passionate and eager to learn. Thank you.

Respectfully,

Jason - Father / Engineer

You really should try to make it to the fall conference in a couple weeks: FALL CONFERENCE
Family membership is only $45.00 and you will get your first conference for free! Anything you need will likely be at the conference; tools, lessons, schools, other blacksmiths, fire, hot iron. If you're serious, you should really try to make it, even if only for Saturday.

but then there are others who, with the help of their art and their intelligence,
transform a yellow spot into the sun.” ~ Pablo Picasso ~

Yes, I think we can make it there. We'll be coming down from Renton so guess we'd need to go down on Thursday so we don't miss all the Friday fun stuff. Until then we'll be reading up on anvilfire and learning as much as we can to get the right supplies to be involved then. Do we need to join in advance or can we do it in person when we arrive? Thanks again!

Jason

Sign up at the conference site, only way to get the deal. See you there. Just dress appropriately and bring safety glasses.
