Cool, thanks. Now i just have to give the clutch some tlc, make some dies, and get it up and running.

Grant, i like your idea of running the belt a little loose.

One thought I had was to make the actual dog that engages the flywheel and crank out of fully annealed steel so in the case of overload the dog would shear off before any jamming occurred. Of course this is for mechanical clutches.

So Grant? Where you stated that your press is 5 ton, is that 5 ton as a straight push or is that 5 ton at peak load, I always thought that those sort of presses were a bit higher tonnage than that.
