Ries is that brochure all there is to the Hossfeld manual or is there more info in the manual. I keep thinking I should buy a manual but my local dealer has nothing in stock and tells me it takes months to get anything from Hossfeld. Someone fairly local told me the other day told me he would photocopy his manual for me but if that brochure is it I will tell him not to bother.

The actual hossfeld manual, which costs $25, is a step by step photo book of setups, showing how to setup for different bends.
It still requires studying and practice- it was written in a time when metalworkers usually did 4 year apprenticeships, and were serious about learning stuff- but it shows the pins and dies for bending each type of metal, where to put em, and so on.
I have found hossfeld to be pretty responsive, but if for some reason they wont mail you one, this is one of their dealers who would probably send one out this week.

As far as I know (you would have to call hossfeld about this and check) the Number 1 is discontinued, and though you can still get dies for it, they dont sell it new anymore. And I dont think the Number 1 manual is available anymore, so you might have to buy a Number 2 manual and adjust accordingly.

Thanks Ries, I will be seeing Lloyd in a couple of weeks and if he forgets the manual, I will give them a call. I have a #1 and a #2. I bought the #1 because it had a bunch of dies with it. I actually use it more than the #2 because I leave it set up while I don't have room to leave the #2 set up.

Lyn, did you download the hossfeld manual and bending book?
You need to. It shows all the setups, where to put the pins, and so on.
free.

to edge bend, you not only need the angle iron flange out dies, but you ALSO need the edge bending dieset, which sits inside the angle iron die.
Then, you may need to make spacers for the size and shape of material you are bending- I have home mades spacers in 1/8", 3/16", 1/4" and 3/8", in a couple of different lengths- these hold the die the right distance open, so your flat bar will lock in place and bend properly. They are just little pieces of flat bar with a hole drilled in them and the corners knocked off one end, easy to make, and of course hossfeld would sell them to you. But they are easy to make, and also almost always not included when buying the famous "bucket 'o' dies" that everyone seems to find.
Thanks Ries. Dang, I didn't get the edge bending die set. I got the manual downloaded and I am finding the machine to be Very useful. I may take a good look at the pictures of the edge bending dies and see if I can weld some up. Gotta make a tool to make a tool to actually do some production.
