So what wisdom or advise would you like to pass on?

My father said: "Any amount of money is enough, no amount of money is enough".

Course he's also the one who said "All extremists should be taken out and shot"!

but then there are others who, with the help of their art and their intelligence,
transform a yellow spot into the sun.” ~ Pablo Picasso ~

My Father liked to say; ''Illegitiimi Non Carborundum'' (don't let the bastards get you down) in Latin........It was sewn into his squadron patch in WW11......bm

I really like little bits o wisdom and quotes from interesting people..

Some of my favorites

What ever you are, be a good one
Abe Lincoln

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies with in us." -
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Good Timber

  • by Douglas Malloch

The tree that never had to fight
For sun and sky and air and light,
But stood out in the open plain
And always got its share of rain,
Never became a forest king
But lived and died a scrubby thing.
The man who never had to toil
To gain and farm his patch of soil,
Who never had to win his share
Of sun and sky and light and air,
Never became a manly man
But lived and died as he began.
Good timber does not grow with ease:
The stronger wind, the stronger trees;
The further sky, the greater length;
The more the storm, the more the strength.
By sun and cold, by rain and snow,
In trees and men good timbers grow.
Where thickest lies the forest growth,
We find the patriarchs of both.
And they hold counsel with the stars
Whose broken branches show the scars
Of many winds and much of strife.
This is the common law of life.

Whatever you are, be a good one.
Abraham Lincoln

"Enjoy each and every day, even today". Told to me by a man who was told he had 6 months to live, and has survived for many years after his cancer treatments.

You should never examine your family tree too closely. You're likely to find a horse thief hanging from one of the branches. F. E. Wilson (F.W. Wilson's father)

My favorite Churchill:

"Why Sir Winston! You're drunk"! "Yes, my dear, I am! And you are ugly! In the morning I shall be sober"!

Al is an inspiration and has many great sayings. If you ask him how he is doing he is likely to say I thought yesterday was the best day of my life, but I was wrong it is today, because I ran into you.

I could tell Al stories for hours, but it is best just to meet him. He does make it to a lot of blacksmithing conferences
