"A farmer who does his own wiring is a fireman's job insurance"
- Firemen around here, who have been putting out burning barns for 80 years or so.

I have been living on my farm for 15 years now, and still fix the dairy farmer's "fixes" almost every month. The most dangerous ones I dealt with immediately, but I stumble across incredible feats of rube goldberg engineering even yet.

The most challenging mechanical PH rebuilds I've ever undertaken were owned and repaired by farmers........I acquired a 25lb LG once at a farm auction that had operated at 700bpm for ages...It was a toughie.....most of em should stick to farming......bm

A parent spend the first two years of a child's life teaching them to walk and talk.

And the next 16 years telling them to sit down and shut up.

Three days of adjusting and testing can save 15 minuts of reading manuals!

When I was 16 I thought my father was an idiot, but by the time I was 20 I was amazed as to how much he had learned in 4 short years!

And specifically for blacksmiths.
A good scare is more memorable than good advice!
